Basic Job Functions:
The responsibility of the Ladle Crane Operator is to safely transport all hot metal to the caster, remove ladles from the caster, dump/clean all ladles, and supply the EAF with prepared empty ladles for tapping. Responsibilities also include operating an ladles overhead crane for production and non-production settings, completing the appropriate crane inspections, displays complete ownership and assists with maintaining the ladles overhead crane. The qualified candidate must be willing to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends as required.
- Operate the hot metal crane safely in accordance with CMC procedures at all times
- Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by following all safety rules and procedures
- Wear proper safety equipment at all times
- Perform a visual inspection of the crane and report any unsafe condition to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
- Fill out crane inspection reports every shift
- Communicate with co-workers and be aware of personnel or vehicles working in an unsafe manner under the working crane at all times
- Inspect cables and hoist blocks for damage and report if needed
- Perform housekeeping when time permits
- Transport full ladles of liquid metal from the ladle furnace up on to the caster turret
- Remove, install, and add to electrode columns both at the EAF and ladle furnaces if needed
- Remove ladles from the caster turret and dump them if they are empty
- Set and pick up empty ladles horizontally at the ladle turn around station (ladle area)
- Position empty ladle on tapping car
- During upset conditions operator may be required to re-ladle, or pour steel from one ladle into another or re-ladle back into the furnace
- Transport supplies and equipment to the operation floors at EAF, Ladle Furnace, and Caster areas
- Understand the liquid forming process route
- Report and communicate all safety violations
- Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures by verbally communicating ideas with others
- Assist with other duties such as preventive maintenance, general housekeeping, and standing in for co-workers scheduled off
- Work as part of a team to get the job done safely and in a timely manner
- Communicate with others about production concerns, needs, and possible problems
- Troubleshoot work related problems using experience, job knowledge, and by communicating with others to solve the problem safely-train other personnel to operate the hot metal crane
- Attend and participate in safety meetings
- Attend meetings when required or requested
- Ability to work in a hot non-climate control environment
- Ability to work on elevated services and in a cab
- Annual crane physical required

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Weihua Crane; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- Previous cab crane operating experience
- Able to successfully pass crane operator and mobile equipment requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-3 years' experience utilizing a cab operated overhead crane
- Understanding of melting and casting logistics
- Experience in Steel Making
